Conditions of Sale and Return Policy

By completing your purchase, you confirm that you have read and accepted the conditions of sale and return policy detailed below:

  • All orders received will be dispatched with the items that are available at the time. If any are missing, you must check their availability again later and place a new order.
  • Money is not returned in cash or as credit to cards; credit is only granted to the store in the cases that apply.
  • Digital license has no change or return. No refunds or store credit will be issued for such purposes.
  • Changes or returns of correctly dispatched merchandise are not accepted, according to the order submitted by the client.
  • Returns of books specified in the list are not accepted, even if the school later decides not to use them.
  • No return or exchange of covered, written, marked or mutilated books is accepted. These books do not apply for store credit.
  • Bibles, novels, dictionaries and school materials do not have the right to change or return.
  • Used books cannot be exchanged or returned.
  • Books sold incorrectly are only accepted in perfect condition.
  • Claims are not accepted through the Internet, only in any of our stores. It is required to present your purchase receipt.
  • The claim, return or exchange of merchandise purchased during the “Back to school” period has a deadline of September 30 of the current year. The time of “Back to school” includes the months of May, June, July and August.
  • Merchandise acquired during the year has 30 days to exchange or return.
  • We do not grant guarantees on packages and school materials. Any warranty for manufacturing defects must be claimed directly from the manufacturer, according to the instructions that accompany the item.
  • The “trade-in” of used books only applies in the store, not in our Internet store. Certain restrictions apply. Details in the store.
  • No store credits or educational vouchers are redeemed in our online store. To redeem a credit or voucher, you must visit one of our branches.

Orders can be placed by email directly to each store.


  • After making the purchase, the customer will be notified when the order is ready to be picked up.
  • The delivery date of the merchandise will be previously coordinated.
  • The identity of the customer picking up the order will be verified.
  • We require that once merchandise is delivered to you, you ensure that you are taking the correct items.


FedEx will deliver your order to your home or office. Deliveries are made during weekdays between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Delivery charges are:

  • $5.95 on purchases up to $399.99
  • Free delivery on purchases over $400.00. The first installment is free. If you decide to receive the order incomplete, the second shipment has a cost of $5.95 

The cost of this service is NOT refundable. FedEx does not deliver to PO Box addresses.
These charges apply to shipments to any point on the island. Deliveries are made only in Puerto Rico. Deliveries do not apply in Culebra and Vieques.


If you are not available at the time of delivery, FedEx will make an additional delivery attempt the following day. If the package is not received by you, FedEx will return it to Librería Contemporánea, after the second attempt. It is the client’s responsibility to contact Librería Contemporánea to coordinate the collection of their order.
